Hiya – I’m Denise Starkey – a professor and scholar of theology living on the shores of Lake Superior. My current scholarship and thinking focuses on spirituality and ethics from a liberation perspective. This blog is a place for dialogue, evolving perspectives, and reflection. I also envision the blog as a place of preparation for my upcoming sabbatical this Fall. I will be walking the Camino de Santiago as both a participant and observer. I am working on a new book entitled “A Nomadic Spirituality of Home: An Alternative Map for Survivors of Violence” that explores the experience of spiritual homelessness and considers constructive spiritual practices, such as pilgrimage, that aid in the journey of healing.
